18" Zildjiler Istanbul Mehmet Agop Crash Ride 1797 grams very rare
18" Zildjiler Istanbul Mehmet Agop Crash Ride 1797 grams very rare from 1979-1981
Very good used condition for this very rare cymbal.
Around 1977 (some records list this as late as 1979), the legendary Turkish K. Zildjian factory in Istanbul ceased production of cymbals and the factory was closed. As a result, former K. Zildjian factory cymbalsmiths Agop Tomurcuk & Mehmet Tamdeger partnered together in 1980 to form the Zilciler & Zildjiler cymbal brands. The Zildjian Company filed a legal injunction claiming the company names were too similar to Zildjian as well as some other issues such as the similarity between the Zilcier/Zildjiler & Zildjian cymbal stamps. In response to this legal injunction, they changed their name to Istanbul Cymbals in 1982 which later split into two companies—Istanbul Agop & Istanbul Mehmet.
The Zildjiler brand only existed for a couple years, making these cymbals incredibly rare.
