1939 Leedy Standard 14" x 6,5" Snare Drum solid maple shell made in USA
1939 Leedy Broadway Standard Snare Drum
14" × 6.5" — Solid Maple Shell
A beautiful and exceptionally rare pre-war Leedy snare drum, made in the USA, in excellent condition for an instrument of this age.
Built in October 1939 (date stamp “3910”), this Broadway Standard model features a solid 1-ply maple shell with 1-ply maple re-rings and a clear maple interior, delivering the warm, open tone for which Leedy is celebrated.
The drum is fitted with classic X-Box lugs and the original Speedway throw-off/strainer, and retains its correct 10-24 original tension rods. Importantly, there are no extra holes, preserving the drum’s historical integrity.
Hardware is finished in nickel plate, including double-flange “Stick-Chopper” hoops stamped Broadway Standard. The oval badge present dates from the 1950s, a known and documented period-correct replacement seen on some surviving examples.
The snare is all original and fully functional, fitted with Remo Ambassador heads and brass Pearl snare wires, and is ready to play. It has been carefully stripped and thoroughly cleaned, respecting its original materials and patina.
The drum will be professionally packed and shipped worldwide from Portugal
